one more for the list

i really need to compile my "never going to buy at the grocery store ever again" list somewhere handy, because here is one more item to add.....cream of mushroom soup. after listening to a fellow foodie at work talking about how she made green bean casserole with homemade cream of mushroom soup, i decided that today would be a good day for me to give it a try. since lunch was left over fancy mac and cheese with deer sausage, as i was shopping today i decided that we needed a veggie dish for dinner. so mushroom soup it is!!!! then the idea of adding pearl barley sounded nice and hardy, not to mention that i have a slew of grains in the pantry waiting to be eaten. so soup it was.
also in recent kitchen news, we finally ate all the thanksgiving left overs and the cornish game hen carcass is currently taking a nice hot water bath with onions, carrots, celery, thyme and rosemary. good thing to, cause the last of the homemade chicken stock from the freezer just went into the mushroom soup. wait... one minute.... oven timer just went off.
holy cow on a stick!!!! i went to check on the loaf of bread in the oven, looked done, so i took it out and oh man! it's a nice looking loaf. i went searching for a milk bread recipe earlier today on wild yeast and came across this recipe for brioche. looked sinful.... must make!!!! and so far i'm so excited. now the hard part of waiting for it to cool before i slice the bad boy starts. must sit on hands!!! this bread making thing is really starting to rock. i just might have to start stocking shaun over at soby's kitchen blog for some local flours.

getting my cook on!!!!
