when my backyard looks like this.........
and apparently there is more snow coming! but since i finally got some compost and sand, there's no time like the present to get some seeds going. so here's where i'm at with my seed supply.
i've got plenty of HBPL and beam's yellow pear tomato seeds leftover. as we all know, i'm head over heals in love with the HBPL, however the yellow pear i can do without. so i'm thinking of getting one more pack of a big beefsteak, a roma, and a cherry tomato variety, and like always i'll probably end up with more plants than i have space for. so, if you are in the st. louis area and want a few tomato plants let me know and i probably can hook you up.
looks like my pepper seed stock is okay. i'm running low on the chervena chushka seeds, so i'm gonna look for another long +/- sweet pepper to try out.
i've got plenty of peas,
and a nice variety of greens.
here are a few packets that i haven't even opened.
some miscellaneous seeds to play with.
herbs on board.
and few packets for the fall.
(southern giant curled mustard greens, purple top white globe turnips, american purple top rutabaga, and a unopened pack of red russian kale)
important, yet EMPTY, seed packs.
there are a few places in town that i ran across selling packets of seeds at good prices. one is the garden store/cafe bowood farms cafe and then there was a booth at the soluard farmer's market that had some interesting heirloom seeds for sale. i'm going to check there to see what new seeds i can get, and whatever else is needed i'll probably order online. although i would love to support my local stores rather than pay shipping charges, but we'll see. here's my list of what i think i need.....
one variety of a long/sweet pepper
maybe another beefsteak tomato variety
cherry tomato
roma tomato
oregano
parsley
basil
and new to try this year
(along with the mexican sour gherkin cucumber and christmas lima beans that i already have)
one variety of corn
and one variety of winter squash
p.s. i started this post yesterday and woke up this morning to another 3 inches of snow.
when will the white stuff ever end?????
