grow, starts, grow!!!

looks like the veggie starts in the sunny windowsill garden are moving right along.

two kinds of leeks and one type of onion along the edges. mexican sour gherkins in the paper bags.

i should mention here that the bags used for the mexican sour gherkins starts are part of an experiment for a homemade gift idea. that being, sending folks a "veggie start" starter kit through the mail. i would fill the bag with some soiless potting mix, include a small envelop of seeds, perhaps another small envelope of a mild fertilizer, an explanation/brief history of that particular veggie, and instructions on how and when to plant them. the bags are the "compostable" bags that you use to bring home bulk coffee. as much as i try to reuse the same bag when i go shopping, sometime i forget, and for awhile there i had a nice little collection of them. so it was time to put them to use and try out their growing capabilities. so far they're working pretty good.
