here we go again.....

well folks, it's time again to get back into the 3G project grove. for the spring season i'm just gonna make a few changes. first off, i've been going back and forth on whether or not to increase the weekly budget a bit. but that decision kinda of made up itself when i decided to go back to the raw milk. with the milk being $10 a gallon, if i'm going to get through this with any sense of sanity, the budget's gotta increase. i'm thinking about raising the budget from $30 to $35 a week per person. that doesn't seem like much, but we'll see how it goes. also, i'm changing the start/end days of the week to wednesday thru the following tuesday. that way, we'll start the shopping week off with the milk, then the csa, and then use the left over to round out the weekend. hopefully this will make it a bit easier to budget and keep track of the spending, as well as, gives me a budget amount going into the farmer's market on saturdays. also, i really hope this time to post more about what i'm cooking in the kitchen, and talk about where and what we eat when we go out. i know i've said this before. but with day lights saving time allowing for some natural light at supper time for better pictures, i just might get it done. also, again, i'm planning on doing more experimenting in the kitchen, which i may or may not, go outside the weekly budget for this. for now here is this weeks breakdown......

maude's market csa week #1: $30

fresh kale
fresh oyster mushrooms
pea shoots
herb bunch of parsley and oregano
1 lb. ground bison
frozen cuban black beans
quail eggs

8.45 oz local maple syrup: $7.65

soulard farmer's market

1 lb. butter: $4.50
few days old loaf of local org. black bear cinnamon raisin bread: $1.00

gallon local raw milk: $10

so the totals are looking GOOD for the first week.
let's see how long we can keep it up.

total spent: $53.15
project bank: $16

Every Little Thing said...

omgosh I love those black beans. I bought them at every Maplewood winter market this year! I know I can get them other places but i kind of think of them as a special treat now.

I also love BBB bread!

What do quail eggs taste like? How do you prepare them? I've seen them but never had them before!

Also, what are the benefits of drinking raw milk? I've started looking into it.

Doug goes to the Farmer's Market on Tuesdays too, just because that is when they mark down the older bread! : ) HEE!
