when i finally woke up this morning i really didn't feel like doing much. i ate some breakfast, looked around on the internet (watched tina fey as sarah palin and laughed my ass off), and watched a little t.v (meet the press - it was fun watching female politicians
going at it) while ray mowed part of the yard. we were going to go out for lunch, but i just didn't want to go anywhere. besides being really hot and the current gas situation, i had these mushrooms in the frig that were on the edge of going bad. so with some local grounded beef from the freezer, homemade whole wheat noodles, and the very last of the happy cow sour cream, i made something that resembled beef stroganoff. not to bad, but if i had remembered to put some onions in there it would have been better. i always forget onions. from now on when i cook, i must stop and say to myself.... does this dish need onions? then we sat around and watched
harold and kumar go to white castle. after cleaning the kitchen it was time to retire to my office for some more scanning. i decided to scan a little tribute to my old dog onyx. onyx unfortunately is no longer with us. she past away in 2004 . i had her for about 12 years. she move around with me like a pro and never complained. we went from atlanta to memphis, picked up ray, moved to chicago in the dead of winter, then to houston in the heat, and then back to memphis. she was one of those dogs that you would swear there was a person in there. she was great!!!! i could go on for days, but instead i will let you enjoy some pictures of her. (some of them still need some work with the color balance, contrast, etc. but anyhoo)
here we are in the court yard of my apartment in memphis. middle aged onyx.
ready for her close up. she was always a good little model.
drooling.
the funny thing is, i don't ever remember letting her off leash. but i guess i did. no wait, i did let her off leash in atlanta. to go out and use the bathroom. but we didn't have a fence. she really was a good dog.
still at my apartment in memphis. which became ray's and my apartment shortly before we left to move to chicago jan. 2001.
she had really nice legs.
in the back yard in atlanta. let's see, i had my first 2 1/4 camera, so this had to be taken sometime between 1994 and 1998. So she between 4-8 years old i think. probably close to 5 or 6 years old.
one of my favorite pictures of onyx. she is so young looking... and healthy. she had a few years towards the end, as all old dogs do, where her health wasn't the best. but for a 70 lb dog she had a long and wonderful life. i miss her all the time. she was 13 1/2 when she passed. a very graceful girl and always ready for a impromptu photo session.
