plans deverted/fun with scanner

i had planed on doing a week in review post to tell everyone about how sick i was and what beautiful bread i made. but then i realized i left my digital camera, with all my groovy pics still on it, at work. oops. then i got this urge to do some scanning this evening and had great fun playing with the color controls. (the camera i use is a 2 1/4 hasselblad and my film scanner is a nikon super cool scan 9000) here are some of the results. (now not all of them are a work of art, but it sure was fun!)

carl sandburg house in flat rock nc

goat at the carl sandburg house. this is the raw file.

this is the new version after i played with it a bit. i'm not that great at all the curves and levels yet. this digital phase is still new to me, but now that i have every tuesday off from work, i'm going to be doing a lot more photo work.

another goat

cemetery in flat rock. very william eggleston i think.

same weird little cemetery in flat rock.

yeah, not so much.

i don't know what this one is about. not the most successful photo day. but scanning was fun.

then i was looking through some old negatives trying to find some pictures of my old dog onyx, when i came across something very interesting. one time when i was at my grandparents and looking through the old photo albums (which is something i do every time i go there) i found some negative that they had. they let me take them home to do some prints and i totally forgot i had them. till now!!! i posted this one of my mom and sister on facebook. that didn't make the bundge (that's my sister) very happy, because on facebook i did not do her the honor of blacking out her little hoohoo. but here i did. check out my mom's curlers. nice!!!

my grandparents still have that bookcase in one of the bedrooms at their house. that monkey in the upper right always freaked me out.
