here's a quick update on the 3-G project. i do hope in the future that i will have the time to be more specific about what we are eating around here. i think i left off on tuesday 11/11 and i had spent about $22.50 for the week. i can't remember exactly what ray bought at the store later in the week, but he ended up spending about $37, making me right about par for the week of 11/9. then last week i went to earthfare on tuesday, which is now my grocery shopping day. that frees up some time on the weekend. also i now have to go into town on my day off for my new little part time job, so swinging by the earthfare on the way home is no problem. for now, during lunch 4 times a week i will be earning some extra cash with a dog walking gig, which is a good thing to do for a few reasons. for one, it forces me to save money by having to bring my lunch on those days. also i'm essentially getting paid to exercise. since my new little friend, jane the puggle, is a bundle of energy and sets a good walking pace, breaking a sweat is no problem. i save money and earn money at the same time. can't beat that. i'll talk more about jane later, so for now, back to the 3-G project. so last tuesday at earthfare i spent $33.44, got a gallon of raw milk for $5.50 from mr. white, onions and local eggs from
wil-moore farms from the farmers market for $4.40, organic oatmeal for $3.74, and ray on friday spent about $7 at ingles, bring us to a total of $53.58. so all in all, we're not doing to bad, although i think i might have to lift the budget for the thanksgiving holiday. we'll see.
here's what i bought at earthfare......
organic dark brown sugar
organic saltine crackers
raw wheat germ
organic unbleached white flour
split creek farm feta cheese
organic vanilla ice cream
organic ricotta cheese
some of the groceries from the week of 11/16. one of my dinners from last week. a bowl of the veggie soup that we got a few weeks back at the farmers market and a homemade roll toasted with raw milk cheddar cheese.
this year for thanksgiving, ray and i are spending a quite day at home. i have a cornish game hen in the freezer that i plan to roast and glaze with a cranberry sauce. also on the tentative holiday menu is sweet sage corn bread dressing, swiss chard gratin, fresh cranberry sauce, and some sort of pie. right now it is a toss up between pecan and sweet potato.
