procrastination rears it's ugly head. i have just now ordered my seeds for the garden. now remember that i only have a small small area in which to the garden. the neighborhood rules prohibit me from tilling up the entire front and side yards into one gigantic veggie patch, so i am stuck with the already outlined flower beds in the front and sides of the house. the back yard totally belongs to the dogs, cause let's face it, they deserve it. i'm not even supposed to be growing veggies on the front and sides of the house at all, but until they finish this crap of a subdivision to where my house would stand a rats ass on the market, they can suck it. no one complained last year about the lettuce, and on the planned tomatoes and peas side, the neighbors are european and could probably care less what i grow. so the plan is to grow lettuce, spinach, chard, leeks and some herbs on the side that gets morning sun, tomatoes, basil, and peas on the side that gets afternoon sun, while more herbs are gong into the flower beds in the front along with some various things in pots through out. i am heading to the garden store on my half day to pick up some organic mushroom compost to work into the soil a bit and i'm still deciding on the whole lime thing. i need to clear out all the mulch i laid down and find some straw for later, cause i think the whole newspaper mulch route just might be ugly enough to get me in trouble. i don't have a good area to start the tomato seedlings inside, so the plan is to start a few in some egg cartons and various small pots and put them outside during the warmth of the day and bring them in at night. if that doesn't work i'll plant the seeds directly in the ground after the frost and hope for the best. keep your fingers crossed and here is a list of the seeds that i order from seeds savers exchange......
