tomatopalozza

hillbilly potato leaf tomato plants

aren't they pretty?? so it looks as if my little tomato seedlings just might grow up to be strong fruit bearing plants. these last few weeks sitting outside has done wonders for them. and while these little wonders have been soaking up the sunlight and fresh air, i have been running around trying to figure out exactly what i was going to do with them. my planned tomato spot in the south field can only handle 3 plants. that's right 3. and how many seedlings do i have? well i didn't count, but definitely more than three. so i started started looking around at my pots and containers to see what i could come up with. well i did my best with what i had. so as you look at the picture below and wonder to yourself, "what the hell is she doing?," just know that I KNOW that some of my containers might be to small, and I KNOW that there might be to many plants to close together in some containers, and I KNOW that some of my stakes might be to short, but i willing to take those chances to see and see what happens. because first of all, they're just tomatoes and second i never really thought that any of the seeds would become seedlings, and i never really thought that the seedlings would continue to grow. and it's not like i am being graded on this. it's for me and ray, so i will do it my way, take notes on what works and doesn't work, and next year watch out, it will be a regular tomatopalozza

south field planned tomato sight.
for this area i bought these super cool and fairly attractive swirling tomato stakes.

one hillbilly potato leaf plant down, two more to go.
i did a toilet paper roll collar for them to help with the cut worms.

and they're all 3 in.
these 3 are the best looking plants of the bunch. and since hillbilly are a bigger slicing tomatoes, they get to hang out in the ground with the tall stakes.
this weekend i will be shredding some newspaper to mulch them.
look to the far right, the peas are trying to sneak into the picture.

hello peas, how are you doing??

very well, thank you. we are almost ready for a first pea harvest. but weren't you talking about the tomatoes?? oops, that's right. let's go take a look at the containers of tomatoes all around the yard.

martin's roma hanging out with the t.v. dish.

another martin's roma hiding behind the flowers.

2 cherry roma plants keeping each other company.

3 hillbilly potato leaf in the cold beer tin and 1 cherry roma in the terra cotta
right side of the driveway.

same thing on the left side as well.

cherry roma in the strawberry planter. i am planning on sowing in some basil seeds in the side openings.

ah, look at all you let over babies. what shall we do with you?
well, a few i am going to keep in case some of the other plants go poop after their transplanting. and some i am going to give away to a few folks at work.
sorry babies, when i give you away, you will probably get drenched in chemicals.

when i transplanted this HBPL seedling into the red cup, 2 roma plants popped up.

hi there little HBPL. would you like to go live with dr. summers in mississippi? do you think you can survive the journey.
