3, count them, 3 little tomatoes!!!!!!
these are either the cherry roma or martin's roma.
i'll have to check the garden notes later to be sure.
and there's ray in the background picking more weeds from his yard.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. i really just can't believe it. from tiny little seeds so many weeks ago, to actual tomatoes. and to think there was a moment when i though this would never ever work. i haven't grown any veggie successfully from seeds ever. this is most exciting! and to think, it was ray who spotted them first as we were pulling into the garage. he couldn't stop the car fast enough for me to get out and admire my cute little tomato babies. and look.... there were more tomatoes on another plant across the yard!!!!!! i'm sure the neighbors were thinking i was loony as i ran around the yard screaming, "this one's got tomatoes too!!!!!!!!"
poor mr. keebs did NOT find all this very exciting.
he's still wearing the cone of silence.
don't worry mr. keebs, the stitches come out friday.
so while mr. keebs continues to sulk about the cone, let's go out and see what other very exciting things are going on in the garden.

ray and i also had quite a nice little weekend. we went to the farmer's market saturday morning and then hit the earthfare for a bit more groceries, had sushi for lunch, and then saw the new terminator movie which i liked very much. this morning we went to southern thymes for breakfast and took a short walk in the woods surrounding our neighborhood. i could see some pecan trees from the road and had it in my head that there must have been some sort of house there at one time, therefore, i was positive that i could find some berries to pick if i looked hard enough (not to mention that i found berries along one of the streets they have yet to build houses on). my new thing is learning how to find and forage for some good ole free foods. and i was right, i found berries, and old foundation to what might have been a house, ornamental onions, a turtle, and some sort of roses. but that is a whole post in itself. for now, take a look at the yummy eats i scored at the farmer's market. and don't let me forget but i need to let you guys know how the great homemade raw milk kefir experiment is going.
all local loot from the farmers market.
pasture raised farm fresh eggs, local hydroponic tomatoes, heirloom carrots, and organic snap peas and heirloom squash.

oh yeah, did i mention that we went out for an ice cream dinner after the movie.
non-local ice cream and so not organic, but very tasty indeed.
although in lieu of a big corporate ice cream place, we opted for the little ice cream parlor next to the peach orchard farm stand.
