holiday weekend in review

(written tuesday 9/2) to tired to write much. we did have fun this weekend, and i got a little cooking in... although i never did make that goat cheese cake. but that just gives me an excuse to drive down to split creek farm, visit the goats there, and buy some goat cheese and goat cheese fudge. here is a quick run down of the weekend and some pictures of all the fun.
saturday = bought digital camera, went to happy cow dairy and bought lots of food, stopped at antique store, went to farm stand and bought more food, came home, rested, went out for diner (mistake), made yogurt and lemon blueberry sour cream bunt cakes.
sunday = went to the carl sandburg home in flat rock NC, stopped at apple stand to look aroubd, drove to hendersonville NC to go to the apple festival, saw the crowd and all the cars and decided NOT!!!, got hungry for BBQ so drove to saluda NC for lunch and walked around a bit, got tired and drove home, napped.
monday = did not go anywhere, cleaned around the house (man my bathroom was really dirty), made lunch, cleaned, made diner, went to bed.
here are some pictures.

ray making friends with a goat

me making friend with goat. don't ask me why one boob looks ten times bigger than the other. walking around the sandburg home, i quickly decided i need to get a new camera bagfor my 2 1/4 camera. this one is really bulky and hurts my back. i think i will get a one that is more like a backpack.

apple stand on the way to the apple festival

driving into saluda. there was way to many people to deal with at the apple festival, so we went here instead. this is a really fun little town to visit. we go there often. there used to be a bakery where we would get really good bread. a few good antique stores. and really great BBQ...we'll get to that in a minute.

downtown saluda. the store on the far left of the pic is one of our favorites. good place to buy presents.

ray not wanting me to take his picture. he was really hungry and i think the new digital camera was getting on his nerves by this point.

GREEN RIVER BBQ. YUMMY!!!!!!!!
check out those fresh greens!!!!!!!!!!
i love to eat at this place. it's cute and the food is always good. can't wait to go back.

here is the not so good diner we had the night before. first of all, i hardly eat hamburger when i go out. i try to eat fish or a veggie choice (with the exception of BBQ), and now i remember why. not good. oh well.
i won't say where this was...i think NOT getting a nod on my blog is punishment enough....right???

lemon blueberry sour cream bunt cakes. not to bad.

making yogurt

holiday lunch. all greens fresh from my garden. left over BBQ from green river, sour cream potato salad.

monday night diner. homemade pasta with sausage, pasta sauce, onions, fresh basil from my front porch, raw goat milk cheese. this was pretty darn good.

desert. organic vanilla ice cream and local nectarines cook slightly to make a sauce. i ate the left over fruit sauce on my oatmeal this morning. yummy.

ray and the kids taking a well needed nap after all the fun and food.
