and this makes me miss my old kitchen in memphis more than ever. as some of you may know i have a thing for all things vintage, but right now i am trapped in a new construction suburban track home. although i do like my current home, i don't quite have the heart aching love for it that i did for the house in memphis. i know sometime ago, i mentioned this love i had for my wonderful vintage kitchen, even though it did have some flaws, and promised to post more pictures of it, which i don't think i ever did. well i perused back through some old pics on the computer and came up with a few that may give you a sense of the awesomeness of the memphis kitchen. and here they are!!!!!!!!!!
so the appliances weren't exactly top notch, but they were cooler than cool. the dishwasher was not really built in. you could roll it around on it's wheels and had to pull out a hose from the top and attach it to the faucet every time you wanted to use it. i really didn't mind it, but you did need to remember to go back and turn off the faucet when the load was done, which i had a hard time doing.
it's impossible to see in this picture, you can kind of see it in the first picture all the way to the right side, but the wall paper in the breakfast nook was some sort of lemon and oranges fruit print that was totally awesome!!!
look at that harvest gold beauty. she was so clean and well taken care of by the previous owner. i miss her.
dig the floor man!!!!! i don't apologize for loving this floor. not one bit!!!!!
not to mention, other than one spot over by the frig, this floor was in perfect condition.

alas, she is gone..... gone with the wind. when we were trying to sell the house in memphis i had to do some updating to the house to get a buyer. for the kitchen this meant ripping down all the wallpaper, repainting, and covering the beautiful, most wonderfully vintage floor with those horrible peel and stick linoleum squares that are supposed to look like stone and oh so modern. they really just make me want to vomit. that was a sad sad day.
BUT!!!!!!!! one day folks......one day i WILL get a groovy vintage kitchen again. I WILL!!!!!!
but she was just a kitchen after all. i still have my health and a comfortable place to live. and most importantly i have my ray who loves me and two righteous puppies. and anywhere they are i am home.
happy holidays and warm wishes to all.
